Open call for artists to participate in The Art Take-Away
This call is for 15 artists to contribute an artwork in any medium that fits into a tinfoil Take-Away container (dimensions 18cm x 10cmx 4.5cm)
The Art Take-Away is an evening event taking place in, Tsnags Kitchen, a Take Away in Oxford. The event is curated by ArtWash, in collaboration with the Oxford Playhouse Theatre, as part of the Playhouse Plays Out season
ArtWash will photograph the work and compile a Chinese style menu that will be on display in the take-out as well as on-line at the ArtWash web-site a week prior to the evening. The artist determines whether they want their work to be included on the menu as a Starter / Main-dish or Dessert..
The work will ‘go on sale’ using the currency of ‘a pledge'. To complete the exchange the customer who wants an artwork , will be asked to complete the requirements set out in the pledge during the evening event. The artist can set the pledge in response to their work. ArtWash is happy to set a pledge if preferred.
The event will take place on the 12th of June 2012, at Tsangs Kitchen, Oxford.
Sadly ArtWash is unable to offer a fee for the work, we will however cover p&p and offer exposure through www.artwash.co.uk as well as publicity through the Oxford Playhouse Theatre collaboration.
About ArtWash
We are ‘Space-Jackers’, who began by supporting work in a working Launderette in 2003. After over 60 events in this space we moved on to intervene in a variety of everyday spaces that have had a particular visual and architectural language for us, such as the ‘Chinese take-out’.
This is a one-off evening event. The MC’s for the night will be the ArtWash team- We are Ann Rapstoff, Barry Reeves & Kay Sentance
